Russell Brand talks his divorce from Katy Perry

Russell Brand is opening up about his divorce from Katy Perry.

Howard Stern interviewed Brand about the downfall of their marriage. Brand was caught off guard, thinking he was going to be interviewed about his new show on FX, Brand X. Instead, Stern put Brand in an unfortunate position and went in a little too far.

“I loved her so much, it just seemed like the sensible thing to do [when we got married]…I just loved her so much,” he said.

Brand continued, saying he had an “overwhelming” sense of affection for Perry when they married in India two years ago. However, it became difficult to see each other due to Perry’s demanding tour schedule.

Brand said their long distance relationship wore on the couple.

“She’s young, successful and dedicated,” he said. “The reality is you can’t fully understand it until you do it. I was really into the idea of marriage and having children.”

When Stern asked Brand about his reported new flame, Jordana Brewster’s younger sister, he declined to comment. Brand said he’s enjoying being single again.

Brand said he’s proud of everything his former wife has done, especially her new single, “Wide Awake.”
